Donald Fagen – I’m Not the Same Without You Lyrics
Since you’ve been gone, an awesome change has come about
My life is different now,
I’m not the same without you
I’m evolving at a really astounding rate of speed
Into something way cooler, than what I was before
I feel much stronger than I have in years
My mind is sharp, and my spirit’s high
Now people tell me the shape of my face is changing
I’ve grown an inch tall since July
What in the world is going on? Please tell me
Without you, I now have eyes to see
Some other destiny
A futurescape of brighter dreams
In which I bring off heroic escapades
I can hold my breath for a really long time now
I can hold my own
I’m not the same without you
Without you, I now have eyes to see
Some other destiny
A futurescape of brighter dreams
In which I bring off heroic escapades
Since you’ve been gone, it’s like somebody switched the stars back on
I can see into everybody’s heart, and everybody’s dreams, girl
I don’t need sleeá¹— anymore,
But if I close my eyes, I’d sleep the sleep of the gods
And no, no, no
I’m not the same without you
I’m not the same without you
I’m not the same without you
I’m not the same without you

That sound in Weather in My Head? I think it’s the Fender Rhodes. Being played economically, like Miles, lots of space in Fagen’s recordings to make this effect of things coming and going. I think.

Please prove me wrong. At :37 of The Weather in my Head I detected a very subtle use of an autotune for no more than maybe 2 seconds. There are three in this house hold, and the tally is as follow.
Husband : can’t really detect
Me: Subtle but definite the there
My 27 year old son (lives with us because he finally got of school on the 6 year program and is FINALLY teaching 4-8 years old phys ed and health science, insists that there was no manipulation at all. Should I be wrong, I have been appointed to make homemade menudo; not hard, but labor intensive – it takes 14 lb. of tripe to last well, maybe 3 days in this housel
No shame in a little help. And it still is my favorite on the album. Please, for the love of God and country, could you please clear this up? It’s all I want for Christmas.
Thank you, and I wish you and yours the happiest of holidays and safety on the roads.

ps.for your next tour, please try to book Freedom Hill. Perfect accoustics, and it felt like you were playing in my back yard. Pine Knob is okay, the Fox theater, however beautiful, is not accoustically perfect.
pps, If I lose, I’ll FedEx menudo on ice to you. I have a reputatation as the best This side of the Rio Grande.

I also have updates to the lyrics. The line “My mind is sharp, and my spirit’s high” is actually “My mind is sharp, and my spirit sound.”
Also, I believe the chorus is: “Without you, I now have eyes to see some other destiny / A future escape of brighter days in which I bring off heroicness to things.”
The last two lines of the song should be “But If I close my eyes, I’d sleep the sleep of the gods / I’m not the same without you.”
I sent a correct lyric message. Thanks!

The lyrics to Donald Fagan’s new song “I’m Not The Same Without You” have one mistake as they are currently posted… The line “I’ve grown an inch tall since you left” is actually “I’ve grown an inch taller since July.”
