Muse – Survival Lyrics

Race, life’s a race
And I am gonna win
Yes, I am gonna win

And I’ll light the fuse
And I’ll never lose
And I choose to survive
Whatever it takes
You won’t pull ahead
I’ll keep up the pace
And I’ll reveal my strength
To the whole human race
Yes I am prepared
To stay alive
I won’t forgive, the vengeance is mine
And I won’t give in
Because I choose to thrive

I’m gonna win

Race, it’s a race
But I’m gonna win
Yes I’m gonna win
And I will light the fuse
I’ll never lose
And I choose to survive
Whatever it takes
You won’t ṗull ahead
I’ll keep up the pace
And I’ll reveal my strength
To the whole human race
Yes I’m gonna win

Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!
Win! Win! Win! Win!

Yes I’m gonna win

Just noticed a small problem, in the second large chunk of text it says “And will light the fuse” where it should say “And I will light the fuse”. Thanks for the lyrics though!!!

“The sportive, knightly battle awakens the best human characteristics. It doesn’t separate, but unites the combatants in understanding and respect. It also helps to connect the countries in the spirit of peace. That’s why the Olympic Flame should never die.”

      — Adolf Hitler, commenting on the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games[31]

“German sport has only one task: to strengthen the character of the German people, imbuing it with the fighting spirit and steadfast camaraderie necessary in the struggle for its existence.”

Read this page if you really think that Hitler was in support of the Olympics.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesse_Owens

Tip: He wasn’t. It was just another ploy to get the Germans under his control. You can even take your quote from Göebbels as a sort of proof. Think about it. The government supports the olympics. Hitler wants control. It’s a worldwide event that inspires a type of nationalistic pride. The Germans win; they are all the easier to control while still on that high.

Why are people so quick to point out flaws instead of thinking for themselves? Many of you here purport a type of religious argument. Don’t be so quick to criticize or judge; that IS a sin.

And I choose to survive Whatever it takes

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. John 15:13

      Yes I am prepared
      To stay alive

      Matthew 16:25
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

      I won’t forgive,
Matthew 6:14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

      the vengeance is mine

“Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,”[a] says the Lord. 20 Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.”[b]
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:19-21

      And I’ll reveal my strength
      To the whole human race

      Isaiah 14:12-15
“How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer,[b] son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,
I will be like the Most High.’Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol,
To the lowest depths of the Pit.

What message do they want you to remember? Be selfish! Pround and only think about yourself.

Sorry, but don’t you think you’re attributing the meaning of the song a little early before the album is released? I’m pretty sure there’s also a verse in the bible that warns against being too quick to judge, but ya know, I could be wrong. Also, I’d like to remind you that your understanding of the song is nothing more than an interpretation, and on top of that, your logic is incredibly flawed. Just because you found things in the song that you THINK go against the bible, does not mean that they do. I can find similarities in government policies and actions that could make it seem as if the government is out to get me, but I’d just be a conspiracy theorist with no real reason. I can almost guarantee you that the lyric writers would agree. So, what do we have? Someone who’s so insecure in their faith that they tell other people to be wary of modern music. Here’s a hint, if you contribute more to the situation to fill in blanks than was there before, you might want to check your logic. And if you can’t do that, you might want to live the bible instead of telling other people to.

I totally agree with you! this song shows the true spirit of the olympic games! be the best! improve yourself! come on, you can do it !!!
I think that when the lyrics says “I’ll never lose”, it talks about never giving up, because the best thing an athlete an do, is to improve him/herself any time he/she can!
you only lose when you give in. If you tried but didn’t win, it doesn’t mean that you lost, it only means that there’s somebody who could do better than you.

Bad choice for Olympics, should be an international, peaceful event were different nationalities compete in a fair game with each other, were everybody is respected regardless of race and so forth. This song should describe bankers of today ;-) everything for me at any price!! Song symbolice egoism, competing with blood taste in the mouth singing about revenge. Or is now everything so individualistic that we just care to win ourself for ourself, what a shame in front of all human race:-)

I think it’s a very good choice for Olympics I kinda agree with you about Olympic spirit but think about Olympic athletes. Isn’t it the best song for them?
And for us too. To be honest, everybody watches to see the ranking. ;)

I don’t agree. I think that very athlete wants to win, but if they lose a competition, they won’t feel soo bad, because just competing in the olympic games, is to win!
you have to improve yourself! i thinkk that’s the meaning of the whole song.

OMG this lyrics are as apocalyptic as London Calling (The Clash)

      Check these verses:

      “And i’ll reveal my strength
      To the whole human race”

      The end is near…
